Elaine Sears of Origami Owl

Elaine Sears of Origami Owl

Elaine: My name is Elaine and I have been in Direct sales for the past twenty years. I have been specifically with Origami Owl since a few months after its launch in January of 2012. Origami Owl Custom Jewelry, a fun and fashionable direct sales company with a unique twist. As an Independent Designer with Origami Owl, I hold interactive events where I help guests create one-of-a-kind personalized jewelry that best reflects their style.
Origami Owl was founded by a 14 year old entrepreneur. Inspired by the desire to create jewelry that would be beautiful, meaningful, whimsical and fun, Isabella Weems launched the company with the goal of saving enough money to buy her first car. In 2010 she introduced the “Living Locket”, a necklace that can be customized with meaningful charms that represent things that are important to you. From humble beginnings at home parties, the success of Origami Owl quickly grew in fanfare and today Weems’ business model is replicated by Independent Designers nationwide. “Women absolutely love creating unique pieces of jewelry that reflect their own style. We closely follow the latest styles to ensure that each item in our exclusive line is fashion-forward and on-trend,” said Isabella Weems, Origami Owl’s Founder.
Origami Owl Custom Jewelry is a direct sales company that features an exclusive line of trend-setting customizable jewelry. With Origami Owl you can have the flexibility to run your own business on your own time, help others design meaningful jewelry keepsakes and make a profit in the process.

AMS: How is your business different from other businesses in the area?

Elaine: I think what sets Origami Owl apart and what inspired me is that the customer builds a locket that is unique to their own personality. I personally love to hear the stories behind why someone is creating a locket. Weather someone is creating a locket for a friend who is cancer survivor or a military Mom who created a locket with her deployed son in mind. I love how the locket made her feel as if her son was close to her even though they were miles apart.

AMS: How do you see yourself in this business in the next five years?

Elaine: Having met with the founders if Origami Owl I love what they stand for. They offer a quality product but even better than that they want to see each one of their designers succeed. In the next five years I hope to continue to build my team to help others succeed too.

AMS:  What are the most important skills that a woman needs in order to be successful in business – what are they?
Elaine: For a woman or any one to succeed in business they really have to love what they do and really believe in it, be confident and set goals. It doesn’t have to be a huge goal at first, just a goal to work towards. Other things like being on time and sticking to your word are equally important.

AMS: What is your definition of success?

Elaine: Being successful to me is being happy. Happy because I’m passionate about what I’m doing with my time on a daily basis. With Origami Owl I am able to attend fundraising events to help raise money for causes that I believe in which makes me feel good too.
